Whether you’re wanting to create something light for those cooler spring / summer evenings or the perfect toasty jacket for winter days, you can create so many different variations.” Fiona also gave us her expert advice on fabrics for this make, suggesting “for a lighter Viola Jacket, a gorgeous Liberty Tana Lawn™ would make a super soft and luxurious jacket (check out the original!) or even a light weight Lyocell Denim would create a fresh modern look without the structure of a traditional denim. For a more wintery Viola, you could use anything from a traditional quilting cotton, cotton duck or even a corduroy – these would create a more structured look and keep you nice and toasty. You could also totally change up the look and feel of your viola jacket with your choice of batting!”

“I started this jacket two weeks ago and finished it early this week. There was a lot of hand sewing and brain work to make it reversible, but it’s done and I love it. Peppermint asked me if I wanted to try their new pattern, they will also be providing the fabric for the outer shell. They had me in the first sentence but when they mentioned Liberty fabric… I couldn’t fire up my printer and sharpen my scissors fast enough.

I picked this fabric because I used to grow orchids and I thought the colours would work well with my existing wardrobe. I made a good choice I reckon.

Pattern: #PeppermintViolaQuiltedJacket from @PeppermintMagazine  in size E-H. I only shortened the sleeves by 4cm.

I made the jacket reversible by making two outer shells and then sewing them together. There’s a lot of extra steps that went into it so I will save it as a highlighted story if anyone is interested.

Fabric: Liberty London quilting cotton from @2GreenZebras. This is the first time I’ve used LL fabric and I can see why people rave about it.

Cotton linen mustard fabric and batting is from my personal stash.”
