Collaborating with brilliant British patternmaker Mandi Bharij from Make With Mandi, we created a pair of shorts that are both glam and practical! Inspired by the dramatic swish of circle skirts, our version of swing shorts walks the line of fun and function with flow aplenty around the legs and hips – and pockets, of course! The curved front yoke paired with an elasticated back waistband is all class at the front, comfy at the back. Go on: get your legs out and make this simple sew so you can sashay into glorious warm-weather adventures.

We used the Organic Cotton Sateen from Spoonflower, printed with a botanical palm leaf pattern by Italian illustrator Francesca Besso.

![Peppermint Sky Shorts
I was lucky enough to be one of the testers of the #peppermintskyeshorts for makewithmandi . The pattern drafting is very good, especially the curved waistband which fits like a dream! The design is very flowy, which isn't something I would usually go for in my shorts, but I'm glad I gave it a chance! It had the practicality of shorts with the drape of a skirt. This is also quite a quick make - only about 2-3hrs from cutting to finish, which makes it perfect when you don’t have much time to sew.
I managed to make this out of a small scrap of poly/cotton from the opshop, which I choose for the denim-like colour (goes with everything!) and the drape, which is perfect for these shorts. Unlike when I took these photos, with the weather finally warming up I can’t wait to wear these! Congrats to Mandi for her excellent pattern, and for letting me pattern test!
