New Pattern: Daisy, daisy, we’re all for the love of you!

Dreaming of a flowy, blousy dress with beautiful details to take you through sunny days and beyond? Same babe, same – so we designed it! The Daisy Dress offers a bounty of fun features and styling options which allow you to customise this marvellous make. Let’s start with the raglan sleeves because boy are we a fan! Gathered in at the collar and the cuff and with a generous width the sleeves promise fullness and fabulousness, topped off by the optional insertion of lace or trim (swoon!).

The Daisy is designed with lots of ease for a loose and breezy wear, or you can tie on the belt to cinch the waist and change the silhouette if you so desire. A placket with buttons down the centre front offers another opportunity for sharing your personal style – how fun is shopping for buttons?! You can bet that this beauty has pockets and they’re big enough to hold more than a lip balm #TinyPocketsCanGetInTheBin. The band collar is a sweet addition and the dress can be easily shortened or lengthened to suit your personal whims or weather.

Our creativity is peaking as we think of all the ways we can bring ourselves into this pattern. Lace trim, giant ric-rac in the sleeves? Trim down the placket? Button options? Mixing fabrics and doing an alternate colour or print for the placket, collar, cuffs and pockets? So many options!

This pattern was created with the support of the lovely folk at both Potter & Co and Sew Your Way!

We used the beautiful Lulu 100% Linen in Cocoa from Potter & Co; proudly based in WA, the small-but-mighty wholesale and retail textile merchant has been supplying fabric to the fashion industry for over 25 years. While they specialise in linen – all OEKO-TEX certified no less – their bricks-and-mortar and online store also carry plenty of other fabrics to tempt your textile tendencies. And don’t forget to take a gander at their accessories: woven labels, thread, buttons, tracing paper, ribbing, hardware like scissors and sewing kits and measuring tools… Everything you need to conjure a fabulous me-make. Potter Textiles was originally started by Simon Potter in 1999 (the 5th generation Potter to work in the textile industry), while long-time team member and “Potter by heart” Sheona Cowden now heads the business, proudly innovating to help keep the textiles and fashion industry alive in Australia.

Thanks also to Sew Your Way and their fabulously stylish sewing accessories. This Australian, female-led business is all about modernising sewing, crafting and quilting, and making creating easier and more inclusive for crafters of all ages, abilities and genders. Their Silipins are a must; the heat-safe, silicone head pins are designed for accessibility and ease – game-changing for sewists with arthritis, grip issues or dexterity challenges. Their innovative Magnetic Pin Cushion Wristband and pretty Terrazzo Pin Dish (also magnetic!) are both perfect for keeping pins handy. Founder Zoe Patterson realised there was a huge community of sewers, quilters and crafters that lacked access to new and innovative sewing tools – so she did something about it!

For our pretty lace inserts, we used the Star Guipure 40mm from The Maker Society – deadstock sourced from local designers that would previously have gone to landfill. Not a huge fan of lace? Fret not flower! You could use the lace trim insert line on the sleeve to add a strip of contrast fabric, ribbon or even another type of trim like giant ric-rac! Or, of course, leave it out entirely for a simple, classic version.

We cant wait to see your dreamy Daisy dresses – head over here to buy this pattern now and tag your makes with #PeppermintDaisyDress so we can share the love!

Another great make from Lisa from @SunnySewsEveryday:

My #PeppermintWaratahWrapDress is finished and I’m so proud of it. It has been designed not to flap open and flash your pants in the wind, so I feel confident it will be a great wheelchair or standing dress in English weather.

✨ INSTANT CLASSIC ✨

The Peppermint Myrtle Shift Dress is a beginner-friendly make with a few special details based on the ever-stylish shift shape – the perfect dress you need in your wardrobe right now!

Myrtle cuts above the knee with options to customise the length. Don’t think she’s reserved for hot weather either: try a heavier-weight fabric to turn your Myrtle into a pinafore-style garment for layering.

For our fabrics we chose two from our lovely sewing partner @Karmme_Apparel – the bold Rottnest Stripes in a lightweight, soft-drape cotton, and the quality linen in the handpainted Mexico Collection.

Get making the Myrtle – the only question is, can you stop at just one?
