The Stitch Up – These September Makes are Sew Good

above A BRILLIANT BARDON DRESS BY @ALEXIPAULS

Ah, September. The month when it occurs to us all that we’re starting to run out of year once more. A busy time – statistically it’s the month most jam-packed with birthdays, we’ve got to remember the twenty-first night for Earth, Wind and Fire, and we’ve got to set an alarm to wake up Green Day when it ends.

But we’re never too busy to keep an eye out for the fabulous Peppermint makes by our society of sewists! You are always surprising and delighting us with your incredible creations so we’ve put together a roundup of some of the most marvellous makes we’ve seen this spectacular September. If you want to show off your sensational sewing, be sure to tag us in your posts and you might see yourself in The Stitch Up in months to come!

STEP WITH PEP

Be transfixed with these transformative takes on the Peppermint Peplum Top! @Jo_Sews_Vintage takes time to stop and smell the flowers in her orange, pocketed, mock-neck peplum dress, while @DorotaKovalska takes to the sea with her deep-V maxi.

WEST END GIRLS

Two of our favourite makes of Peppermint’s latest free pattern – the West End Jacket@SoozCreates’s funky frankenstein of scrap-busted flannel and @MadeByMeJessieB’s stripy set with matching shorts.

CHECK IT OUT

Would it even be a Stitch Up if we didn’t take time to spotlight some charming checks? Lately, we’re loving @Kaya_Sews’s pastel blue Peppermint Valley Jumpsuit and @Newest.Sewist’s contrasting sleeve Peppermint Paddington Top.

DISH THE SKIRT

Spin out with @LenaTakesUpSewing’s marvellous Peppermint Wrap Skirt made with an upcycled Marimekko dress and @Couple.CraftingCave’s sporty A-line crafted from the Peppermint Milton Pinafore pattern.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

We heart some dope dresses! @SherMadeIt’s gorgeous graphic art Peppermint Wide Strap Maxi has us going gaga, and we swoon for @SewJo_JoJo’s spooky skull-themed Bardon Dress with a black lace tier!

IN THE POCKET

Here at Peppermint, we appreciate the importance of a good pocket which is why the Peppermint Pocket Skirt is a perennial favourite. Straddling the global September weather @ElanaKNt’s pocket skirt is the sprouting green of spring while @FeedsFoxes navy blue number comes with cosy autumn vibes.

Another great make from Lisa from @SunnySewsEveryday:

My #PeppermintWaratahWrapDress is finished and I’m so proud of it. It has been designed not to flap open and flash your pants in the wind, so I feel confident it will be a great wheelchair or standing dress in English weather.

✨ INSTANT CLASSIC ✨

The Peppermint Myrtle Shift Dress is a beginner-friendly make with a few special details based on the ever-stylish shift shape – the perfect dress you need in your wardrobe right now!

Myrtle cuts above the knee with options to customise the length. Don’t think she’s reserved for hot weather either: try a heavier-weight fabric to turn your Myrtle into a pinafore-style garment for layering.

For our fabrics we chose two from our lovely sewing partner @Karmme_Apparel – the bold Rottnest Stripes in a lightweight, soft-drape cotton, and the quality linen in the handpainted Mexico Collection.

Get making the Myrtle – the only question is, can you stop at just one?
