Show Some Handmade Love This Valentine’s Day

The shops are full of love hearts, red roses are all the rage and expectations are high. Yep, it’s almost February 14th.

Whether you have a partner or not, we believe the season of love is not just for the loved up. It’s a time to show appreciation to anyone in your life who fills your cup, lifts you up and makes you feel like a million bucks! And what better way to do that than with a lovingly made gift from one of the many makers at The Finders Keepers

There’s so many people you can send love to this Valentine’s Day so we’ve searched their online marketplace to find some cute gift suggestions. Yes, it was hard work to look through hundreds of beautiful things to make the list, but that’s what you do for the ones you love… insert heart-eye emoji.

Show love to… the women who made you

Treat your favourite auntie who remembers your birthday; your nanna, who always makes you feel beautiful; or your mum (who always deserves a little something) with some gorgeous soap, handmade in Melbourne using sustainable ingredients.

Show love to… the four-legged love of your life

Kit out your pooch with a fancy new collar or lead from Lassie. Hand-crafted using vegetable-tanned leather sourced from South America, these beauties will have your pooch jumping (on you) for joy!

Show love to… your plant parent pal

Sow the seeds of friendship with one of these pretty planters from Leaf and Thread. Made from terracotta clay dug straight from the ground in South Australia, Melbourne maker Laura Veleff also recycles and reuses all her clay in the studio so there’s no waste.

Show love to… your work wife

Spoil your workplace with delicious sable biscuits from Bombus Co. Featuring tantalising flavours such as maple and rose, the bickies are made with natural and locally sourced ingredients, and you can even customise the dietary requirements to be gluten-free or vegan so no one has to miss out!

Show love to… YOU, you lovely thing!

Because, as RuPaul says, “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” Maker Molly May Herry creates all of her beautiful rings, earrings and bracelets from 100% recycled sterling silver in her home studio in Victoria. So put your own ring on it, wear your heart on your sleeve and declare this the season of SELF-LOVE!

Another great make from Lisa from @SunnySewsEveryday:

My #PeppermintWaratahWrapDress is finished and I’m so proud of it. It has been designed not to flap open and flash your pants in the wind, so I feel confident it will be a great wheelchair or standing dress in English weather.

✨ INSTANT CLASSIC ✨

The Peppermint Myrtle Shift Dress is a beginner-friendly make with a few special details based on the ever-stylish shift shape – the perfect dress you need in your wardrobe right now!

Myrtle cuts above the knee with options to customise the length. Don’t think she’s reserved for hot weather either: try a heavier-weight fabric to turn your Myrtle into a pinafore-style garment for layering.

For our fabrics we chose two from our lovely sewing partner @Karmme_Apparel – the bold Rottnest Stripes in a lightweight, soft-drape cotton, and the quality linen in the handpainted Mexico Collection.

Get making the Myrtle – the only question is, can you stop at just one?
